EMBRACING THE FUTURE:
TRADITIONAL BANKS VS FINTECHS

In the heart of many bustling cities, traditional bank buildings can be found occupying prime real estate. These grandiose structures not only command attention but also tend to be rather expensive investments. While the architecture is often impressive, there is a downside to these massive edifices: they can obstruct one’s view of the ocean.

On the other hand, we have the rapidly emerging FinTech industry, which is revolutionising the way we manage our finances. One of the key differences between FinTechs and traditional banks is that the former have no physical locations. Instead, they operate entirely through digital platforms, such as websites and mobile applications. This not only reduces overhead costs but also ensures that FinTechs do not contribute to the obstruction of picturesque ocean views.

However, the lack of a physical presence does have its drawbacks. When using a FinTech service, customers may find that they are unable to speak with anyone in person, should they have questions or concerns. This contrasts with traditional banks, which offer face-to-face customer service at their branches. Consequently, some individuals might feel a certain sense of detachment when interacting with FinTechs, as there are no tangible locations where services can be accessed.

Introducing the HUB.
In envisioning the perfect marriage of traditional banking and FinTech, we can look to innovative container-based building designs. These structures provide a flexible, modular and eco-friendly solution that captures the essence of both worlds. By creating compact, personalised banking hubs within repurposed shipping containers, we can maintain a physical presence while minimising our environmental impact and preserving those precious ocean views. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a small team of dedicated banking professionals, these hubs would offer face-to-face customer service and foster a sense of community, all while embracing the digital advancements of the FinTech space. As we continue to adapt and innovate, container-based banking hubs could serve as the beacon that guides us towards a harmonious fusion of traditional banking values and the cutting-edge spirit of FinTech.

As we embrace the future, it is important to recognise the value of both approaches, and strive to find a balance between the two. While traditional bank buildings may be massive and obstruct our views, they provide a physical presence and a level of human interaction that some people still find comforting. Conversely, FinTech offer the potential for innovation and efficiency without the need for physical locations. It is up to us to adapt, learn and grow, as we ride the wave of change towards a more inclusive and sustainable financial future. Let the ocean views be a reminder of our capacity for boundless exploration and limitless potential, inspiring us to forge ahead and create a brighter tomorrow.
